To start off the night with a bang, the French metalcore band, Novelists, took the stage. Lead vocalist Camille Contreras blew us all away with her screams and ended every song with the sweetest “thank you very much!” She is absolutely a force to be reckoned with, and the crowd was (and definitely still is) in love with the performance Novelists put on.

Up next was Wolf & Bear, the American post-hardcore band from Sacramento. The crowd was already hyped up, and they went crazy for Wolf & Bear. They led with Twisted Tongues, and by the beginning of the next song, Street Rat, crowd surfers were flooding the pit.

The last of the openers was Horse the Band, a California-based Nintendocore band. The amount of chaotic energy they brought to the stage was unbelievable. The triangle player, Ed Edge, made sure everyone in the crowd was having as much as he was, jumping into the crowd for the perfectly timed chime. Their unique mix of metalcore and 8-bit gaming music was the perfect combination for the night. Up next, Dance Gavin Dance, and everyone in the crowd was ready.

The lights dimmed, the crowd roared. You could feel the overwhelming excitement from the fans all around you. Lead Vocalist Andrew Wells walks out, followed by harsh vocalist Jon Mess. The screams from the crowd were so intense as lead guitarist Will Swan took his place on stage, along with drummer Matthew Mingus. To start the Pantheon tour, of course, the first song had to be from the Pantheon album, no better choice than Animal Surgery. Next, as Wells said on stage, “we’re gonna take it back to the mothership”, the lights changed and the beat to Chucky vs. The Giant Tortoise started to play. The energy that Andrew Wells brings to the stage is truly unstoppable. The crowd was feeding off of him, and he was loving it, we all were. The more hyped up he got, the more the fans reacted, and it just kept going and going. My personal favorite moment in the photo pit, Midnight at McGuffys. By this point, the crowd had already lost their minds, I was two-stepping to McGuffys, and Andrew Wells was against the barricade, singing as the crowd absolutely lost it. Next up, they played It’s Safe To Say You Dig The Backseat followed by Speed Demon. At this point, there wasn’t a sane person left in the room. A fan made dolls in the likeness of the band, and of course, Wells had to take a moment to appreciate the art brought up to him. Through the next song, Synergy, more and more fans tried crowd surfing to give gifts to the band. The excitement couldn’t be contained in the theatre when the band started to play Uneasy Hearts Weigh the Most, every person in the room sang each word as loud as they could. The hype continued on through Trap Door, Elder Goose, and The Stickler. For what we thought was the last song, we got an insane performance of Surprise! I’m From Cuba, Everyone Has One Brain. It was incredible, and the crowd couldn’t get enough, as the lights dimmed, the sound of the fans screaming didn’t stop. It was only moments between when the band walked off stage before they came back on. As the lights came on, Carl Barker started to play. The pit opened up, crowd surfers were piling on top of each other, you could feel the energy in the air as All the Way Down played. To end the night, they took it back to the mothership one last time, and Dance Gavin Dance played Inspire the Liars. At the end of the song, Wells, Mess, Swan, and Mingus took a moment to thank their fans before taking their leave.
