Kentucky’s Moonshine Zombies come out swinging with “Run Malcom Run,” a hard-driving Southern rock track that has plenty of grit, attitude, and personality.
One of the first things that stands out is the rough edge in the vocals. That gravelly voice fits this style perfectly and gives the song an authentic, lived-in sound instead of something overly polished. Behind it, the guitars keep everything moving with some seriously cool riffs that drive the song from beginning to end.
And these guys definitely have the look to go with the sound. Overalls, cowboy hats, cornfields and plenty of Kentucky attitude make the video feel like an extension of the band rather than a costume somebody dreamed up for a video shoot.
The video pretty much has everything you would expect from a Southern hard rock song: guns, a loyal girl and dog, moonshine, a fast car and a whole lot of country scenery. It is fun, unapologetic, and fits the music incredibly well.
Directed by Dylan Anglin of Smokey Dog Entertainment, the official video premiered September 3 and gives fans another taste of the band’s upcoming album, KENTUCKY HOMEGROWN.
“Run Malcom Run” sounds like Moonshine Zombies know exactly who they are. It is rough around the edges in all the right ways, loaded with guitar, and soaked in Kentucky Southern rock attitude.
