Progressive metalcore titans Born of Osiris have officially announced the departure of longtime guitarist Lee McKinney. In a heartfelt statement shared via social media, the band confirmed that McKinney is moving on from the group. While no specific reason for the split was disclosed, the band wished him well in his future endeavors.

Don’t worry, the band’s tour and album release will not be affected by Lee’s leaving. They reassured fans that their upcoming album and touring schedule remain firmly in place.

To our BOO CREW family around the world, we have some news to share with you: Lee McKinney and Born of Osiris are parting ways. We wish him the best with his future endeavors. None of our upcoming plans will change: Our new album, Through Shadows will come out on July 11th We will continue the European headline tour that we are on right now; we will not cancel any shows. For our upcoming Canadian tour in June/July, Scott Carstairs from Entheos/Fallujah will be filling in on guitar. We will soon be announcing more details regarding the future guitar player of Born of Osiris.

McKinney has been a defining force in Born of Osiris’s sound for over a decade, also pursuing solo work in instrumental progressive metal. His departure marks a major shift in the band’s lineup, but BOO is clearly focused on moving forward with strength and clarity.

The upcoming album Through Shadows, due out July 11th, will be the band’s first full-length release since Angel or Alien in 2021. With European tour dates continuing as scheduled and a Canadian run set for this summer with Scott Carstairs stepping in, Born of Osiris is showing no signs of slowing down.
