PRONG brings the heat again with “Fear The Sun,” a catchy, memorable blast of groove-heavy metal that shows the New York veterans still know exactly how to hit hard.
The single comes from PRONG’s upcoming self-titled 14th studio album, Prong, due November 6, 2026, through Napalm Records. The record marks the band’s first studio album for the label and was mixed and mastered by Andy Sneap at Backstage Studios.
“Fear The Sun” wastes little time getting down to business. Tommy Victor’s guitar work drives the track with the combination of heavy riffs, groove, and aggression that has long defined PRONG, while Christopher Dean on bass and Tyler Joseph on drums give the song a pounding foundation.
What really helps the song stick is that it is heavy without sacrificing the hook. The line, “I fear the sun has burned your mind,” is simple, sharp, and memorable. Victor has said the song is a modernized return to the groove-metal basics PRONG helped establish with Beg to Differ, while lyrically using the idea of living without seasonal changes as a metaphor. That combination gives “Fear The Sun” a familiar PRONG foundation without making it feel like the band is simply looking backward.

And then there is the guitar solo. It is a nice addition that gives Victor another opportunity to shine without overstaying its welcome. The solo fits the song rather than interrupting its momentum, before the track drops right back into its heavy groove.
After decades of helping shape groove metal, industrial metal, and crossover sounds, PRONG is not coasting on its reputation. “Fear The Sun” is heavy, catchy, aggressive, and unmistakably PRONG. If this is an indication of what the rest of Prong has in store, the new album should have plenty for longtime fans to sink their teeth into.
Prong arrives November 6 through Napalm Records.
