Avenged Sevenfold brought their North American tour with Good Charlotte to Truliant Amphitheater on Sunday, August 16th. The show was not only extremely hot but nearly sold out. Avenged Sevenfold kicked off their set with Nightmare and wrapped it up with Cosmic. My favorite part of their set was their intro. Lights went down at 9:30, and Nightcall played over the speakers. Why was this my favorite part? Because prior to the band taking the stage, a QR code was on the screens encouraging fans to “Take Part in the Light Show.” See, fans could scan this QR code, and their Cell phone lights became part of the show. However, this may seem like something simple or small to focus on; to me, it was a way for the band to break down the wall between artist and fan. It didn’t matter where you were at Truliant, in the seats, in the pit, or on the lawn; you were able to be part of the show. Avenged Sevenfold played a 12-song set, including fan favorites Seize the Day, Hail to the King, and Unholy Confessions.
