Artist: DED
Album: Mis-An-Thrope
Release Date: 7.21.2017

Right away the energy of the whole album from song one on is very groovy, and has you locked in throughout its entirety. A lot of their sound is similar to bands like Slipknot, Beartooth, and Stone Sour. The only reason I mention Slipknot is because when they get heavy, the singing style draws a lot of inspiration from self-titled slipknot era stuff. Ded is definitely showing they have what it takes to be a successful band in the scene.

With this being their first release, there isn’t the expectations like we have with already established bands. But right from the start, the track Anti-Everything caught my attention because it had the switch off from rap verses to vocals that complimented the song really well. The bridge section was a play off of the beginning but added some tension that benefited the song overall. You can view the music video right down below!

The 3rd track on the album, Dead To Me, was another favorite of mine. Chorus’ as always are on point, but the screaming on this one is one of my favorites of the album because it’s so aggressive and sound like he’s about to go crazy any second. I’m a fan of screaming that’s a little more unique, and this is definitely unique. Instruments on this one are killer to, always very tight but have a lot of grit to them. It seems like all my favorite tracks are at the beginning but FMFY is another intense one, starting off very thrashy and not slowing down. The lyrics have depth to them, and vocal style is killer as always. I just wanna say this is probably the most solid instrumental performance I’ve heard in awhile, on guitar, bass, and drums. They’ve also released a music video for this one, which shows them in the those solid white eyes

Other tracks I loved from the later half of the album were Hate Me & Beautiful, but honestly give the whole album a listen. Beautiful is the sort of outlier of the album, but it’s a great job done vocally. DED is here to stay, can’t wait to see what they do. Currently on tour with Korn, and Stone Sour from July 19th to August 2 + Festivals all of fall. Check out their facebook for more info!
