The Show Must Go On! Bands Embrace Live Streaming

In a time when “Social Distancing” has become the norm due to CORVID-19 AKA Coronavirus, many band’s are standing by the old saying “The Show Must Go On.” Many are taking to social media platforms like Facebook, Twitch, IGTV and more to shine a little light in what is currently a very dark place for music lovers. So since many of us are stuck at home for the unforeseeable future I’ve compiled 5 hours of some of my favorites band’s that’s embraced live streaming to get us through the next few days or weeks

Code Orange

When shows started getting postponed last week, Code Orange jump on Social Media and said we’ll still be playing our Album Release show LIVE on Twitch to an empty room. The band’s last album Underneath dropped on Friday March 13th and the band was scheduled to play at The Roxian To celebrate. So Code Orange stuck with their Hardcore roots and put on one of the best show’s I’ve ever seen.

Dropkick Murphys

I’m not going to lie this was one of my favorites to watch. I’ve always been a huge fan of Dropkick Murphys, and as a Journalist it’s on my bucket list to cover them live in Boston on St Patrick’s Day. Though that’s not happened yet, a live stream from Boston on St. Patrick‘s Day was the next best thing. Dropkick streamed live on both Facebook and YouTube and at one point during the stream their was 160,000 fans watching on Facebook alone. I contacted Dropkick Murphys’ publicist and according to them at the time of this article the band has had a total of 9,689,623 views as of yesterday on the concert. Nothing beats seeing you favorite artist live! Nothing beats being with 1,000’s of fellow music lovers all sweaty and screaming your favorite lyrics at the top of your lungs. However, till life gets back to normal let hope more artists embrace live streaming. Most importantly let’s remember the artists during this difficult time as well. If an artist does a live stream BLAST it across social media, if they’re not doing a live stream, that’s ok, stream music on you favorite streaming platform. Whatever it takes, artists need their fans more than ever right now.
