Concert Review: Lamb of God Brings Relentless Energy to Virginia Beach

Lamb of God’s show in Virginia Beach on April 19 was just a really good night all around. Nothing overhyped about it, it just delivered.

The crowd was already pretty dialed in before the music even started, so Sanguisugabogg didn’t have to do much to get things going. They came out, played hard, and the pit opened up almost right away. It felt a little chaotic, but in a fun way.

Fit For An Autopsy slowed things down just enough to give the night some shape. Their set felt heavier in a more controlled way, and you could tell people were paying attention, not just waiting for the next breakdown.

Kublai Khan is where it really started to feel like a full-on event. The crowd got louder, the pit f*cking crazy, and suddenly it didn’t feel like an opening slot anymore. I’ve never seen someone crowd surf over the barricade and then continue to mosh in the photo pit.

By the time Lamb of God came on, the energy was already there. They didn’t have to build it up, they just stepped into it. And honestly, that worked in their favor.

They sounded exactly how you’d hope. Randy Blythe has a way of being intense without overdoing it and it being a home-state show definitely helped.

The crowd stayed with them the whole set. Just a room full of people enjoying a concert at the beach.

By the end, everyone looked tired in that good way, sweaty, a little worn out, but clearly glad they showed up.

It wasn’t trying to be the greatest show of all time or anything like that. It was just a really solid night with a great lineup, and sometimes that’s exactly what you want.
