Taylor Swift announced Wednesday that her 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, will be released Oct. 3.

The album had been teased over the past week with orange-themed imagery before Swift revealed the final artwork and tracklist on social media.

Swift made her first podcast appearance on New Heights, co-hosted by Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce and his brother, former NFL center Jason Kelce. During the interview, the pop star discussed the importance of owning her masters — which she secured earlier this year.

“I signed a record deal when I was 15,” Swift said on the show. “Owning the masters means you have complete control over distribution. I’ve been saving up since I was a teenager to own them.”

“If I didn’t buy them back, someone else would be leaving all my music from my first 6 albums to their kids in their will,” she commented.

Swift also reflected on the conclusion of her record-breaking Eras Tour, which wrapped in December 2024, and on her forthcoming album.

The 12-track record closes with its title song, featuring Sabrina Carpenter. It follows 2024’s The Tortured Poets Department and is her first album in more than a decade not produced by Jack Antonoff. Swift produced the album with Max Martin and Shellback.
