Metallica is currently on their M72 World Tour, and unless you live under a rock, you might have heard something special happened at the May 7th show at Lane Stadium. Well, 2 special and unique things happened. First, if you’re not a college football fan, you may not know, but Virginia Tech uses the hit Metallica Single Enter Sandman as their entrance music at all home games, and has since 2000. To give you a little VT History, Enter Sandman was chosen as the entrance for the team once Lane Stadium got its first video board in 2000. Other songs that were considered were “Welcome to the Jungle” by Guns N’ Roses and “Sirius” by The Alan Parsons Project. Since 2000, when VT started using the song, fans began to jump up and down during the entrance, and it’s been branded the “Hokie Jump.” So you can see why this show was so special to both Metallica fans and VT Fans. So, why does all of that matter? It’s because Metallica ended their 16-song set with Enter Sandman, and fans jumped so hard that it registered as a “Small” earthquake! That’s right, 60,000 Metallica and VT Fans caused the local seismograph to show noticeable spikes. Watch this professionally shot video from the May 7th show below and let us know what you think.
