Josey Scott will always be known as the voice of Saliva, the man behind hits like “Click, Click, Boom,” “Always,” and “Ladies & Gentleman.” He left the band back in 2011, made a brief guest return in 2022, and now he’s out on the road again with his project, the Josey Scott Band. When they rolled into Durham, North Carolina, on October 11, I had the chance to photograph the show, and honestly, it turned into one of the most memorable nights I’ve had at a concert in years.
You never know what to expect when you meet someone famous. You wonder if they’re down-to-earth or if the ego takes over when the cameras aren’t around. But Josey? He couldn’t have been more genuine. During soundcheck, before he even knew who I was or why I was there, he came over to me and my wife, shook our hands, and started chatting like we were old friends. No rush, no attitude, just a real conversation that lasted about ten minutes about everything from music to wrestling to animals.
That same energy carried through the night. Before the show even started, Josey and his band were out and about taking photos, laughing, and talking with fans. You could tell he truly cared about everyone there. It wasn’t an act; he made every single person feel like they mattered.

Once the lights went down and the music kicked in, though, that friendly guy transformed into the frontman everyone remembers. Motorco Music Hall is a small, intimate venue, but Josey filled it like he was headlining an arena. His voice sounded just as powerful as it did twenty years ago, maybe even better. He owned that stage, connecting with the audience in a way that felt electric and alive.
Even my wife, who had never heard Saliva before that night, was completely blown away. She turned to me afterward and said, “That was incredible.” And I couldn’t have agreed more.
This show reminded me why I fell in love with live music in the first place. It’s not just about the songs; it’s about the connection, the energy, and the way one person’s passion can fill an entire room.
There are rockstars who act like they’re above everyone else, and then there’s Josey Scott, humble, kind, and still performing like he’s got something to prove. If this tour comes anywhere near you, don’t miss it. You’ll leave with your ears ringing, your heart full, and a brand-new appreciation for a man who still gives everything he’s got to his fans.
