RIAA Awards have announced that the Kings of Thrash Metal have hit another major milestone. First, their 1986 release, Master of Puppets, has hit 8x Platinum. That means Master of Puppets has sold 8 million units. Now we live in a digital age with very little physical media left, so according to RIAA, 1 Physical or digital album sale is 1 unit, 10 songs downloads from the album is 1 unit, or 1,500 audio or video streams is 1 unit. Needless to say, this is quite an achievement. Not only has Master of Puppets gone 8x Platinum, but their 1991 Self-titled, most commonly known as “The Black Album,” has gone 2x Diamond, meaning it’s sold 20 million units. Congrats to Metallica.
