Christian Music Day: Charlotte North Carolina
By: Joshua Lowe
Scripture states when 2 or more are gathered in His name He is among us (Matthew 18:20), well that’s definatly the case at Christian Music Day on September 20th at Carowinds in Charlotte North Carolina. I’ve had the privilege of working with Premier Festivals, the promoters of this event several times in the past and CHURCH happens everytime I’m at an event. We arrived in time for North Carolina natives Building 429 to take the stage. These boys never disappoint! They pumped us with their rock and roll riffs, but also led us in worship such tracks a “Where I Belong”. A song that talks about not needing the things of this world, but only needing Jesus. Following Building 429 was a band that made a name for themselves a few years back, Mercy Me. You may remember these guys from a few years ago when they release the song “I can only Imagine”. It blew up on Christian radio and even crossed over into some mainstream radio, hitting the top 40 on the Billboard Charts. Well all I can say about these guys is if that’s the only song you know by them you’re truest missing out. These guys pull influences from all over, from Old Southern Gospel, to Mo Town to Rock and Roll and even some Country. These guys have something for everyone, that will have you clapping your hands and bobbing your head. Toby Mac took to the stage next. You may recognize that next from a band from the late 80’s early 90’s called DC Talk they released a very popular song titled “Jesus Freak”, which Toby still performs at his concerts to this day. With Toby was his band “The Diverse City Band” and sitting back watch them perform it reminds me that we as a group of believers are a Diverse Group. When we (Believers) make it to Heaven it’s going to be as very diverse group. It’s not about black or white, Baptist or Catholic, it’s about a relationship with Jesus, and those with a Biblical relationship with Jesus we will all be worshipping together in his persents. Again I love working with Premeir Festivals, I love what they’re doing, I love what they’re about so make sure you swing by their website http://www.premierfestivals.com
and check out all the upcoming events they have going on.
