It seems musicians have been getting a bad wrap recently with cancelling shows for “Medical Reasons”, but for anyone who’s been in professional show business any amount of time knows the show must go on. This was the case for Breaking Benjamin recently in Charlotte North Carolina. Having just headlined the Shiprocked Cruise, 2 days before, the band returned to the mainland to finish up their current tour supporting their latest release “Dark Before Dawn” with Wilson. Not only did they bring Wilson along for support, but singer/guitar player Benjamin Burnley brought back a bad cold. This is my 3 time seeing Breaking Benjamin and let me tell you sick or not these guys are going to bring the best possible show they can for their fans. The band took the stage playing fan favorite So Cold off the bands 2004 release We Are Not Alone. From the moment the band played the first note of So Cold the crowd was insane. This was a sold out, standing room only show, that had fans elbow to elbow. Despite being sick the band seemed to feed off the energy of the crowd, that was giving the band 110% from start to finish. Fan’s sang every line of every song for the bands 16 song set, which included songs from the bands entire catalog, as well as a KILLER mash up of The Imperial Match (yes from Star Wars), Bulls on Parade by Rage Against the Machine, Smells Like Teen Spirit by Nirvana and Sad But True by Metallica. Now I want bore you with a track by track review of what the band did on stage, but I will tell you this, the band Breaking Benjamin is the definition of Rock Stars. They made the best of a situation where they could have very easily cancelled a show. Front-man Benjamin Burnley said it best, when he stated during the bands set, that they have never cancelled a show and they aren’t starting now. The band did seem to rush their set, which is understandable. Check out the bands performance below of their hit single Diary of Jane, where Ben mentions the band will be hitting the studio after the tour to finish working on a new album. So fans don’t worry if you missed the band on this run, they’re road dogs and will be back in your city soon, either still supporting their latest album or giving us a new one.
